When I first began this class, it was a mystery to me. I had no idea what to expect. I honestly didn’t think I would like it. One of my good friends who is also in the Chadron program, previously took this class and just gave it a bad review.
I took her word for it, and began this class with thoughts that I wouldn’t like it. Going into something with the mindset that you aren’t going to like it, makes it hard to start enjoying it. As the weeks progressed, I really did start to enjoy it though.
I also didn’t think that I would enjoy it because it’s mainly blogging and twitter.. which I haven’t ever used too much of. Even though most of my classes are online, and I am becoming a teacher, I didn’t think that I liked technology that much. I still am not 100% convinced that I absolutely LOVE using technology, but I’m getting there.
Technology is such a big part in education now days, that I need to get more used to it. I need to be exposed to all of the different web pages and different apps that can be used in the classroom. This class has also been exposing me to techniques to use in the class and how to seek help if we’re ever stuck at all.
I’m glad that I know what to expect week to week in this class, there are no huge assignments creeping up, and that I can expect to get better at using the wordpress blog as the semester goes on.
My favorite module that we have done so far was probably module 3, choose your own education. I really liked that one because it seemed pretty specific to me. It gave me ideas for my future classroom and has helped me realize I should let students have a say in what they’re learning.
The most challenging module for me was probably module 5, building your personal learning network. I am not sure why exactly I struggled with this one. I just think it’s because I’ve never had to have one before. It still wasn’t too bad, though. It’s not like I hated to do it.
I am excited to finish this semester and to see what else there is to learn. I don’t have any clue what other things we would learn about.
